Dr. Batts is a Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University and Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Kalamazoo Campus. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, and Pharmacology, he spent 15 years in industry doing clinical drug development focusing on antimicrobial and antiviral therapeutics. Dr Batts was a Lead Investigator for the development of linezolid at the Upjohn Company. Dr. Batts earned his medical degree from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Batts has authored numerous papers and been honored with various awards including PHRMA’s Clinical Trial Exceptional Service Award for linezolid.
